eHope is an organization of energetic and compassionate volunteers focused on facilitating community-based care in families facing life-threatening illness.  It's both refreshing and humbling seeing the best of the human spirit unfold in eHope's mission and care giving communities.

The third time I saw an article about eHope in the local paper, when it involved a woman my own age with ALS, I was drawn to get involved. The concept of building caring communities is simple and so powerful and it brings out the genuine goodness in everyone.

As a former social worker, I was immediately drawn to eHope’s model of community building and support in times of deepest need. Having worked with many chronically ill patients, it is so clear to me that one of the missing pieces in the support puzzle is ongoing community involvement. eHope is a daring, creative and bold way to tackle the problem of community disconnection head on. I can’t think of a better place to put my volunteer time and energy.

eHope represents a simple and effective model of community-based caregiving that organizes and enables a group of family members, friends, co-workers and neighbors to join together in providing much needed non-medical support to the seriously ill and their families. No one is powerless to help. That’s why I volunteer.

It is an absolute privilege to journey alongside the sick and dying, to care for them unconditionally, and to be a part of their extended community. It is my heart’s desire that this “privilege to serve” would continue to be the essence of eHope for generations to come.
